I write to thank you for the excellent and cheeful service we received at your establishment last friday. It made for a particulary enjoyable meeting.

In particular, would you please pass on my compliments to the chef. i heard a number of people praising his creations and not a single criticism - somewhat an unusual event amongst old soldiers.

Dear Mr Collins,

I am writing on behalf of this association to thank you and all your staff for making the days visit to Raglan and Monmouth, representing Wales in the short time we had today, so enjoyable.

There were some very nice touches, especially being greeted by members of your staff who helped to stop the traffic and allowed easy parking for the coaches, and again with the three languages employed in the menu.

Both our French visitors and our english colleagues were unanimously of the opinion that the meal and service could not have been bettered, and our time and money with you were both well spent.

I noticed some poor reviews for your hotel on the website tripadvisor.com and will write a more positive one.

This hotel suited us very well, basic but clean and the staff were friendly and helpful and I am likely to use it again. But why do some hotels spoil a perfectly good breakfast by using tinned mushroom when fresh ones are easily available and probably cheaper?
